St Mary’s Pupil Councils

At St Mary’s, our pupils’ opinions and ideas are a crucial element of our decision making.

We have 3 pupil councils, who focus on monitoring and improving different aspects of the school:

School Council - our School Council meets once every 3/4 weeks and discusses school-wide issues, as well as addressing concerns that children may have brought up in their classes. This year’s School Councillors are: Omar & Noor (Y6), Mona & Eshaaq (Y5), Sara and Kang Kang (Y4), Ayida & Abdullah (Y3), Lucas & Sandra (Y2). Sara is the Chair and Omar is the Vice-Chair. The School Council have taken an active role in preventing bullying in the school, helped us to develop our new school uniform, worked with Mrs Leith and Mrs McSherry on identifying our core schoool values, and are currently promoting healthy lifestyles for all our children.

This year’s Playground Councillors are: Mira & Jarvis (Y6), Mahalia & Eyad (Y5), Harriet & Eren (Y4), Mariam & Harrison (Y3), Elise (Y2).

Green Team - our Green Team meets termly and discusses issues to do with our school environment.
