We are a Church of England primary school, with close links to our parish Church.
We have services in the Church six times a year, led by Revd Ben Jones, who is one of our school Governors. The Church’s children’s worker, Kirstine, leads Collective Worship every week in school for Early Years, KS1 and 2, as well as running an extra-curricular club for the children called ‘Star Club’.
Benny, the church’s Worship Intern, leads Collective Worship every Tuesday for KS2, teaching the children praise and worship songs.
The church leads activities all year round which children from St Mary’s can access, eg a week long holiday club in August and weekly Sunday School ‘SMKC’ which meets in the school hall.
The following Governors regularly attend St Mary’s church:
- Jon Ward (Chair of Governors)
- Christopher Shipman (Treasurer)
- Richard Blyth (Chair of Resources Committee)
- Bryn Murphy (Achievement Committee)
- Emily Norman (Headteacher)
The headteacher is an Ex-Officio member of the PCC of St Mary’s Church, so that the Church receives regular updates on the life of the school.
