School and Community

Our school premises are in almost constant use after school hours, and frequently at weekends for local clubs and activities. These vary but have included: Karate, Ballet, and Scout groups (Rainbows, Guides and Cubs).

The Friends of St Mary’s

The Friends of St. Mary’s is an association of people who offer their time, talents or money to work for the children in many different ways.

All parents automatically become members when their child joins the school. The Friends also includes staff and governors; former staff, pupils, parents and neighbours.

The Friends support the work of the school in practical ways such as helping to look after the gardens, fundraising, organising social events (International Evening) and other activities (School Disco, Christmas and Summer Fairs).

They’re always looking for more volunteers, or ideas on how to support the school. It’s a Registered Charity (1105185) and all funds raised are used to support the school.

In recent years the funds raised by the Friends have paid for an Interactive Whiteboard, a new stage and stage lighting, the screens in the hall, a greenhouse, iPads for the Foundation Stage and guided reading books.

Some money is also donated to local charities, including the Children’s A&E department at St. Mary’s hospital in Paddington.

Their meetings are usually on Friday mornings, and notices are sent out to help organise events.
