Our Approach

Computing is an inspiring part of the curriculum that enables children to use their technology skills to develop within a variety of contexts.

At St Mary’s, our lessons allow children to understand computing terminology, how to use computer programs effectively, and how to be safe ‘online’. We give children many experiences to explore, practise and consolidate a variety of practical and technical activities.

All classes from Year 1 to Year 6 spend at least 60 minutes per week partaking in tasks involving all the aspects of the technological world. They learn skills such as sending and receiving emails, creating presentations and making apps and games.

Children in Foundation Stage learn to use technology from an early age, through iPads and regular Computing lessons in the ICT suite. Standards in Technology are very high with 100% of pupils reaching the expected level by the end of Reception.

Our school online safety is regulated by the London-wide school safety system LGfL to ensure that our students’ online safety is maximised.

Computing is integrated with many curriculum areas such as English, Maths, Science, DT, Art, Geography and History.
