Year 6 Citizenship Workshop

Yesterday, Year 6 started the new term with a Citizenship workshop at the London Transport Museum. The children took part in 7 sessions about bus safety, road safety, train safety, first aid, dealing with strangers, cyber safety and fire safety. They really enjoyed themselves and were extremely well behaved! Everyone learnt something new, including the fact that a bus weighs 18 tonnes!

Golden Clubs

In KS2, we have replaced Golden Time with Golden Clubs. This gives children the opportunity to learn a new skill, or develop a talent. This term, our clubs are:

  • Debating Club
  • Art Club
  • Touch Typing Club
  • Film Club
  • Running Club

Here are some examples of the children enjoying their new clubs:

Sports Day

Last Friday, Years 1 to 6 went to Paddington Recreation Ground for Sports Day. It was a popular day for Sports - at least two other schools were there, too!

Our children were exemplary, especially when we all stopped for the two minute silence for the victims of the Tunisia attack. There were very good examples of sportsmanship, as well as some brilliant natural athleticism shown (not just by the teachers). Well done, St Mary’s.

School Council at Parliament

Yesterday, our School Council visited the House of Commons to learn how decisions are made in Parliament. They asked some really insightful questions and learnt a huge amount about democracy in action. Hopefully this will help us all to be an even more democratic school!
